The blaze happened on Sunday, Nov. 17 just before 9 p.m., when flames were seen coming from a car at the intersection of Darlington Road and South Bedford Road (Route 172) in Bedford, according to the Bedford Fire Department.
Arriving fire crews pulled the disabled car off the road's shoulder while they began fighting the blaze, which had spread to the engine and gas tank.
Eventually, firefighters were able to completely extinguish the blaze and the car was towed away. Route 172 was closed for around an hour while the fire was put out.
